The highlight of our Italian Tour

I'd scoured the websites and TripAdvisor to find the perfect place to stay in the Florence area with my wife and two teen-aged daughters during our two weeks in Italy. Relais Villa L'Olmo caught my eye early, and after much research, seemed to fit the bill. We stayed at the Relais for 4 nights, on our way from a week in Rome, and a subsequent 4 days in the Venice area. Indeed, our stay here exceeded all expectations and was the one of the most memorable times of our vacation.
The Relais is part of operational olive oil manufacture, so the rooms and cottages are integrated into the farm itself. We stayed in one of the two-bedroom apartments in the main buidling - which was converted in approximately 2002 (according to their site). The apartment was very charming, with exposed stone wall in the living room, arched brickwork ceiing, and wood-beamed ceiling in the bedroom. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and functional. The partial kitchen was a nice feature - we even cooked our own dinner one night. The main bedroom had a wonderful view of the rolling hills of olive trees. The view from the second bedroom and living room were less spectacular, but looked out on the pleasantly rustic surrounding buildings. Overall, we'd describe the accommodations as cozy and rustic. If you're looking for high-end luxury, then this is not the place for you. For us, it was perfection.
The terraced grounds were extremely pleasant for sitting and relaxing in the Tuscan countryside. The main pool was a delight after a heavy day of touring. It really allowed our daughters to unwind a bit from "sightseeing overload" that had set in during a week in Rome. Sitting on the terrace overlooking the pool at sunset, watching my daughters enjoy the pool, and sipping wine while the sun sank into the Tuscan hills was idyllic. I shall always remember this with fondness.
Impruneta is a charming town, perfectly located 20-30 minutes by bus from Florence. It's the perfect launching-point to see the sights of the Chianti/Tuscany region. We drove around a lot, visiting San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, Siena, Pisa and Lucca. The bus to Florence was inexpensive (2.20 euro round-trip) and pleasant. If you're doing other touring, however, a car is advisable.
Serena and Eleanora were both extremely accommodating and helpful. They are extremely knowledgeable about the area, and can provide many suggestions. The rooms were tidied daily, with new towels and making of the beds. There is also breakfast available at additional charge, but we did not avail ourselves of that. Instead, we visited the convenient Coop supermarket in Impruneta and made our own breakfasts.
We all hope to return to Impruneta and Relais Villa L'Olmo sometime in the future, and will probably spend an entire week there for relaxation and local touring.

A little slice of Tuscan Paradise

Took my parents here as they had never been to Italy before and was a perfect place to chill out and soak up the Tuscan sun.
The staff were simply fantastic (Elenora was incredibly helpful and friendly) and all the staff were ready to help us out above and beyond ANY other staff I've encountered in my worldy travels. Even to the point of calling our rental car company when they never turned up at the airport to get our money back!
Not too far from frorence, a very easy 20 min bus ride away and the bus stop is a 2 minute walk up a slight incline and across the road. Buses are posh and airconditioned and you can get the bus ticket from reception. When you jump on the bus just validate the ticket in the small yellow machine.
The Pools are wonderful, and rooms are very comfortable and air conditioned (we had a 2 bed apartment) Next time we will possibly go for the cottage as they have their very own pools, but the main pool area is large enough for everyone and there is even a sandy beach down the far end which was a nice surprise.
Will definately be back and recommend this to everyone! Truly a pleasure to visit.

Perfect location for that special weekend

Wonderful location in the Tuscan Hills 30 minutes South of Florence.
Rooms are spacious and full of rustic charm and the pool and terrace area fare wonderful spots from which to watch the sunset. Even the wine produced on site is pretty good.
Eleanora and Serena could not have been more welcoming and helpful.
Impruneta is a quiet village, but that is part of the charm, and there are enough good local restaurants to keep you happy.
You dont really need a car. The bus service to Florence stops right outside, costs 1 Euro and takes about 30 minutes.
We will be back for sure.

Wonderful holidays

We spent 10 days in one of the cottages with a wonderful view overlooking the hills of the area. Staff - every one of them - could not have been more friendly and helpful. The accommodation was exactly as portrayed on the website. It was a great location for both touring and having a lazy day around the villa. Plenty of good pizzerias in Imprunetta and at least one fanatstic restaurant within 10 minute drive. Bus service to Florence was very good, taking about 30-40 minutes (although some of the bus drivers seemed to be trying to set new records!). It was very useful to have the daily cleaning and towel service - one suggestion would be to advertise on the website that they also offer pool towels which are changed regularly as well (would have meant more space in the luggage for goodies from Florence).
Great location, great accommodation, exactly what we wanted. Difficulty will be beating this if we want to try another region of Italy....

Wonderful accommodation

We booked the Relais fairly last minute and were very lucky to find one two bedroom appartment free for 5 days.
The appartment was lovely, nicely furnished, cool and well equipped. It was a great to have a daily cleaning, bed making and towel change service.
The pool area is beautiful - clean and with the added benefit of having both a tiled pool side and a sand area ... fantastic for our toddler. The views are also lovely from the pool and the nearby barbecue area.
The service was first class with from eleanora and serena - they were very friendly and helpful providing us with excellent restaurant recommendations, tips on how to get into the Ufizzi without waiting in line for 4 hours etc
The setting could not be bettered. Impruneta is 15 minutes easy drive to Florence and the town itself is a non touristy thriving Tuscan town with a few shops, playground and high quality restaurants. Relais Villa Olmo is within walking distance of Impruneta
We would love to go back and are seriously considering taking a villa next year.
